Your Privacy Choices
Last updated: 2 September 2026
This page is for residents of California and of other United States states whose privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. What we do, in plain terms
We do not sell your personal information for money. We are a publisher, not a broker. We do not collect your details in order to pass them to lenders, insurance carriers, brokers, or law firms, and we do not operate as a lead generator.
We do, however, allow advertising and analytics partners to set cookies and similar identifiers on this Site so that they can show you advertising based on your activity across different websites. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and under similar laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states, that activity counts as sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and on some readings as a sale. You have the right to stop it, and this page tells you how.
| What is involved | Detail |
|---|---|
| Categories of information | Identifiers such as cookie identifiers and IP address; internet activity, meaning the pages you view on this Site; approximate location at city level; and inferences drawn for advertising purposes |
| Recipients | Google and its advertising partners; our analytics provider; the affiliate programmes whose links appear on this Site |
| Purpose | Selecting and measuring advertising, and attributing a purchase made after you click an affiliate link |
| Sensitive personal information | We do not collect it, do not use it to infer characteristics about you, and therefore have nothing to limit |
2. How to opt out
Any one of the following works on its own. You do not need to do all of them.
2.1 Use the cookie settings on this Site
Switch off the Advertising and Marketing categories. This stops the relevant cookies from being set on the browser you are using now.
The same control is available at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
2.2 Use the Global Privacy Control
If your browser or a browser extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for that browser, automatically, without your having to do anything else. Several browsers support it natively and others through an extension. More information at globalprivacycontrol.org.
2.3 Send us a request
Email info@arteamente.it with the subject line Do Not Sell or Share, and tell us the email address associated with you if you have one with us. We will apply the opt-out to the information we hold about you. You do not need to give a reason.
2.4 Use the industry opt-out tools
- Google ad settings: adssettings.google.com
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
- Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada: youradchoices.ca/choices
3. What this does and does not change
- You will still see advertising. It will not be selected on the basis of your activity across other sites, and it will usually be less relevant to you.
- Nothing else changes. You keep full access to every article, to the newsletter, and to anything you have bought. We do not charge more, restrict content, or offer a worse service to anyone who opts out, and we do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
- Cookie-based opt-outs live in the browser. You need to repeat step 2.1 on each browser and device you use, and again after you clear your cookies. The Global Privacy Control avoids this, because the signal is sent on every visit.
- Affiliate links still work. If you have opted out and then click an affiliate link, the merchant may still set its own cookie on its own site under its own policy. That is a decision you make on their site, not ours.
4. Your other rights
Depending on where you live, you also have the right to:
- know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who received it;
- obtain a copy of that information in a portable format;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- have your information deleted, subject to exceptions the law allows, such as records we must keep for tax purposes;
- opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects — we do not carry out such profiling;
- not be discriminated against or retaliated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of them, email info@arteamente.it with the subject line Privacy Request. Section 12 of our Privacy Policy sets out the detail.
5. Authorized agents
You may appoint someone to make a request for you. We will ask the agent for written proof of authority signed by you, and we may ask you to confirm directly that you have given permission. We do not require proof of authority for an opt-out of sale or sharing, which we action on request.
6. How we verify a request, and how long we take
For requests to know, correct, or delete, we verify your identity by asking you to confirm information we already hold, such as the email address you subscribed with or the details of a purchase. We ask for the minimum needed, and we do not require you to create an account. If we cannot verify you, we will tell you why, and we will not treat an unverified request as a reason to collect more information about you.
We confirm receipt within ten business days and respond substantively within forty-five days, extending by a further forty-five days where necessary and telling you why. Opt-out requests are actioned within fifteen business days, and usually immediately.
An opt-out of sale or sharing does not require verification, and we do not ask you to prove who you are before honouring one.
7. If you are in Canada
Canadian privacy law works differently: rather than an opt-out of sale, PIPEDA and Quebec’s Law 25 give you the right to withdraw consent, to access the information we hold, and to have it corrected. Refusing advertising and analytics cookies through the banner is the practical equivalent of the opt-out described above, and the industry tool at youradchoices.ca covers advertising across sites. Write to us to exercise any other right, or contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with our response.
